After 60 years of marriage his wife lay in bed dying. They picked out “their boat” together from her hospital bed. They had talked about it for years but never pulled the trigger. Now it was too late. They picked it out together from her hospital bed. She was so happy they finally did it. After she passed he left his fortune and all the other “stuff” to his children and moved aboard. There, he sat quietly waiting to see her again. And occasionally his children would visit and he would untie and go for a cruise.
This is the story of an older man I met on the dock one day a couple years ago. Really puts true importance of our actual lives over the stuff we gain throughout our lives into perspective. He invited me to visit him sometime on his boat, where he was just soaking up sea air and waiting. Tried to connect with him but I never made it. He did though. I’m sure he’s back with her where he belongs. Now that’s a boat with a great story!

We should all be so lucky in Love and life as this. He told me his only regret was that he was too busy most of the time to buy a boat and cruise around with his wife. His message was simple, live while you’re alive and don’t forget to smell the roses along the way. I’m sure he’ll get to cruise with her in heaven.
Wishing you fair winds and following Seas!
Jeff
