Went on a hike the other day. It was longer than expected, or felt like it. Had to walk weird because of a recently pulled calf muscle. A few years ago I had an accident and wasn’t even supposed to be walking around like this. This hike reminded me, again, to be thankful that I’m walking.
Even when we have reminders every dam day, we forget to be thankful. And as we age, remember to be thankful you’re still here to age. Some of us really struggle to be thankful for that fact! I think our brains constantly revert back to survival mode. So we have to be dilegent and remind ourselves we’re not just surviving but deliberately living a healthy thankful life. And if you find your stuck in survival mode, back the horse up and try again.
These days it’s easy to struggle to even come up with something to be thankful for. All you have to do these days is stop, look around, and ponder for a minute (or a second). Pretty easy to come up with something then, especially if you live near a city!
Wishing you fair winds and following seas!
