There’s a song by Kenny Chesney called “Boats”. It’s about, you guessed, boats. He refers to them as vessels of freedom and healing. It’s a good song but more of a wake up call for me. If it wasn’t for my boat as a refuge, home, and man cave if you will, I’m not sure life would have gone my way lately. But it did. I occasionally get messages from old friends and family. They ask how things are and why I left Montana. A few words explain it, A new start, my boat, and the Sea. I also tell them I’m well, because I am. But Montana will always be home.
Every once in a while we all get those”wake up calls”. Sometimes they come as “Red flags”, or just close calls. Most of the time we give them a little thought then move on. We probably should give more pause and thought to these at least, but we’re only human!
Everyone should have some kinda safe harbor. Even if it’s sitting quietly doing yoga, or taking a drive to watch a sunset. Take a break, breathe. My Pa’s was his little place with his wife Bobbie. We should all be so lucky. Again, he wouldn’t be happy I was over here, but then again if he was there, I would be too.
Wishing you fair winds and following seas!
Jeff
