Winter in the PNW

So this is my first winter here. I talked to my mom on the phone and she asked how the weather was. I said “Rainy”. But the next day it was sunny and 55, in the middle of November! In Montana it’s a tad coder. I’m told it gets colder but rarely stays below freezing once the sun comes up. So weird to see how active people stay here in the winter so far.

I also don’t mind the rain. I find it relaxing, even if I’m in it. I think that is the winter in general for me. But I’ve been assured that in time I’ll hate the rain, but I don’t think so. I know it keeps it green over here so I welcome it.

everyone has their favorite season. Mine has always been fall. After all the hype, tourist season, too many days of too much sun. Hunting season starts, people start cutting firewood, and of course, just generally getting ready for winter.

No matter where your at the secret to having a good winter is to no hibernate. Stay busy, find activities indoors or out. They talk a lot about seasonal depression over here. I wonder if part of it is people just not having enough activity and viewing winter as just depressing no matter what you do. I think finding your winter jam is the secret.

wishing you fair winds and following seas. Jeff
