Been cruising pretty local near Everett in some different anchorages and doing jobs you can only do on the hard (on land). And just when it seems you’re making headway and start making things pretty, it rains, and leaks show themselves. But that’s ok. Keeps me busy. I expect things to break. It’s a boat!
A Buddhist teaching about expecting things in our lives to break brings a lot of peace to me. Basically, it teaches things we should already be aware of and practice, but forget. Everything from a glass breaking, a tree falling, loved ones passing, and even relationships. It all eventually gives up the ghost or breaks and returns to the earth. Stuff, our bodies, just a matter of when.
It almost strangely brings peace and makes you appreciate everything and everyone in life so much more. Finding this kind of inner peace really helps me lately to stop and soak it all in, because you never know when it’s your time to return to the earth. Enjoy life now.
Wishing you fair winds and following seas.
Jeff
